As a studio rooted in equity and care, with an office right here in Los Angeles, we feel compelled to speak out about the ongoing violations of human and civil rights across America. These actions are a result of targeted attacks against migrants and those who seek to protect them.

Locally, the deployment of the National Guard and active-duty Marines in response to lawful protests represents an extreme and troubling escalation. Alongside this, ICE’s tactics raise serious concerns about the infringement of civil liberties and basic human rights.

This heavy-handed response casts serious doubt on whether basic, constitutionally protected rights, such as freedom of speech and assembly, are truly being respected.

These protections apply to all people in the U.S., regardless of immigration status. The Supreme Court has affirmed this in cases such as Plyler v. Doe (equal protection) and Zadvydas v. Davis (due process and humane treatment).

This is not about immigration policy. It’s about how government power is wielded, often as political theater and to stoke fear and division, at great cost to fundamental rights.

Protest has been a fundamental part of advancing civil liberties, as we have seen subsequently across the US during No Kings protests on June 14th.

We must stand up for the basic rights that belong to all of us.
